Wicked Problem
My Wicked Problem covers the loneliness elders are or have experienced when they are living in nursing homes. I wanted to focus on the mental health of residents living in nursing homes because I felt like people usually focus on younger members of society. After all, they are the future. Loneliness can harm the mental and physical health of elders in nursing homes. A specific problem may be depression, a weakened immune system, Alzheimer's disease, and even death. It is so much harder for elders to manage other health problems if they are dealing with mental health problems. Loneliness in elders living in nursing homes is a significant concern. It's essential to provide them with social interaction and companionship to combat feelings of isolation. It's crucial to create opportunities for socialization and connection to help alleviate feelings of isolation. Loneliness can be a common experience for elders in nursing homes. Creating a sense of community and organizing activities can help alleviate loneliness. This can include activities like group outings, game nights, or even simple conversations with fellow residents. We can make a positive difference in their lives by fostering a sense of community. (“How to Navigate Social Isolation and Loneliness as an Older Adult”). I want to target this problem by getting donations, making flowers out of pipe cleaners, and attaching a friendly note to them so they can read it when they are feeling down or just to have some cute decorations in their room.
